Foundational Memorandum, Constitution and Rules
The Constitution is the Association’s governing document. It was approved by the required majority at the first meeting of the Association held at the College on 18 September 2026, with the concurrence of the Principal, and takes effect from that date.
It is adopted in English, with a Sinhala version provided for members; where the two differ, the English text prevails (clause 21.4). A Tamil translation will be published here when it is ready. Amendments require a two-thirds majority at a General Meeting on 21 clear days’ notice.

What the Constitution guarantees
Non-profit and non-political
No profit may be distributed to members, and the Association never supports or opposes any political party or candidate.
Two signatures on every payment
Every payment needs two of the three signatories, one of them the Treasurer. Purchases above LKR 100,000 need three quotations. Accounts are examined by the Internal Auditors every year.
Pupils first
The safety, dignity and best interests of pupils come before every other interest, and every activity involving pupils needs the Principal’s prior written approval.
Privacy
Personal data is collected only for the Association’s lawful purposes, kept secure, retained only as long as justified and never sold. Contact info@katharians.com to see, correct or delete your data.
Open membership
Anyone who left the College may join. Hardship waivers ensure no past student is excluded because they cannot pay.
Term limits
Elected terms are two years and no one may hold the same office for more than two consecutive terms.
